Dear Commission Members:
I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to those of
you who do not know me and tell you how excited I am to be leading
this important commission. I have been involved with technology in
advising before I even knew that's what I was doing. In 1987, I joined
the development team for the degree audit system at the University
of Texas, which is now used to certify all undergraduate degrees on
our campus. As an advisor, I have been involved with initiatives to
bring our degree audit system to the web, and the creation of online
wait listing and prerequisite checking. I have seen the tremendous
impact technology has had on advising on my campus, to the benefit
of both advisors and students, and I love to see how other institutions
use technology to improve their advising services.
The Steering Committee and I are giving thought to what we will present
for our Hot Topic session in Indianapolis. If there's something you
have a burning desire to learn more about, or anytime you have any
questions, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to seeing
many of you in Indy.
Renee
