I have served for three years as Director
of Undergraduate Programs in the College of Business Administration
at the University of Tennessee. During this time I spearheaded
a transition from a split advising delivery system to a professional
model. This transformation included a transition from open enrollment
to managed enrollment, the acquisition of new staff, and a redefinition
of our faculty advisors roles. During this reorganization I have
regularly leveraged the experiences of my NACADA colleagues in
my thought, planning and organizational processes. Through national
and regional conferences, Administrators' Institutes and list serves,
I have gleaned the wisdom, ideas, and approaches from many. In
short, any success I know is the direct result our collective
knowledge.
If given the privilege
of leading the Advising Business Majors Commission, I will dedicate
myself to working for our members to ensure they have every opportunity
to benefit from our shared wisdom and vision. Providing our members
with a shared knowledge base to aid them in their work, research,
teaching, and advising is critical our professional development.
I consider it an honor to be nominated and welcome the opportunity
to serve the organization that has meant been so instrumental
shaping me as a professional.
