Platform Statement:

  • Highlight your involvement in this unit that will help you in leading this unit. What roles have you played in this unit thus far?

I have worked in the executive office during graduate school, and currently am a full time academic advisor, so I have a unique perspective on the organization.  I believe that continuing to grow the organization is important. Additionally, continuing to diversify our membership is essential.   This diversification should include those in faculty roles, administrative roles and target underrepresented populations, as well as institutional type.  NACADA should fully represent the broad range of institutions and people in the United States and Canada.

  • What do you believe are the most important goals and initiatives for this unit in meeting the strategic plan for both the unit and the Association?

Increasing membership among underrepresented populations and institutional type.

  • Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or what influenced you to run for this leadership position?

My experiences with NACADA have been extremely positive and I hope to be able to bring others into the organization to join in on these experiences.  I also believe that by increasing the stature of NACADA nationwide serves our profession well.

  • Provide any additional comments or information regarding your past experiences and qualifications that relate to your candidacy for this leadership position.

I have worked in the NACAD Executive Office and currently am a full time academic advisor.  So, I have a unique combination of experiences and insight that will allow me to effectively work with the executive office staff and leadership of the organization on the task of membership.
