Statement:
Highlight
your previous involvement within this unit that will help
you in leading this unit. What roles have you played within
this particular unit as a member thus far? |
My
experience as a member of the Finance Committee in 2003 and 2004
provided me the background that I need to be the chair of the Finance
Committee. The structures and processes that were used to review
reports and submit recommendations will be a strong background for
the work of the committee. My previous experience with accomplishing
the goals of the committee will be helpful in conducting conference
calls and email communications that are often necessary to do the
work of the committee in a timely and productive fashion.
What
do you believe are the most important goals and initiatives for
this unit in meeting the strategic plan for both the unit and the
Association?
The Finance Committee is instrumental to the financial operations
of NACADA. One of its primary functions is to review submissions
and reports for relevance and accuracy. Another primary task is
to be a recommending body to the Board of Directors regarding financial
income, spending, activity funding and other policies and procedures
as deemed necessary. Goals of the Finance Committee: 1. To function
cohesively and effectively as a group to accomplish annual goals.
2. To set relevant annual goals based on association needs regarding
financial operations. 3. To review financial records and reports
for accuracy and compliance with policy. 4. To make recommendations
to the Board and Council as necessary. 5. To review budget requests
for legitimacy and recommend action accordingly. 6. To review and
support requests that will continue to move NACADA forward and provide
for the needs of its diverse membership while accomplishing association
goals.
Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or
what influenced you to run for this leadership position?
I have a high level of respect for the activities, functions and
leadership within NACADA. The leadership of the organization has
provided me with wonderful role models and mentors. I would like
to emulate that leadership and give back to NACADA where I can be
most beneficial. I believe that I have the skills to chair the Finance
Committee and will use my precision and attention to detail, as
well as my interpersonal skills to lead the members and accomplish
our committee goals.
Provide any additional comments or information (either
personal or leadership-related)
that you want potential voters to know about you that is not covered
elsewhere in your platform information.
Thank you in advance for consideration of my skills and ability
to chair the Finance Committee. If elected as Chair I will do my
best to lead the committee in overseeing the financial operations
of NACADA.
