Statement:
Highlight your previous involvement within this unit that
will help you in leading this unit. What roles have
you played within this particular unit as a member thus far? |
Served as an original steering committee member for development
of the Engineering and Science Advising Commission. Once the Engineering
and Science Advising Commission was officially recognized, served
on the Steering Committee for the first two years. Presented an
Engineering and Science Advising Commission recognized session at
a NACADA conference in the first year of recognition as a Commission.
Active member of the Engineering and Science Commission since its
inception.
What do you believe are the most important goals and initiatives
for this unit in meeting the strategic plan for both the unit and
the Association?
I
believe the Engineering and Science Advising Commission needs to
first decide upon a set of operating principles or by-laws specifying
organizational structure and operational procedures. Once these
operating principles have been established and are approved by the
membership in writing, then I would suggest that the Commission
Steering Committee, with input from the membership, work toward
establishing a small number of annual reachable goals with a specific
strategic plan including measurement standards to achieve those
goals. The goals and strategic plan should reflect both the needs
of the Commission and the Association.
Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or
what influenced you to run for this leadership position?
I
am interested in serving as the Engineering and Science Advising
Commission Chair to help improve the organizational and operational
structure of this Commission, which will hopefully result in a stronger
influential position for the Commission both within NACADA and within
the Engineering and Science Advising community.
