EO Liaisons: Bev Martin, Charlie Nutt
-
Call to Order and Welcome –
Self welcomed everyone and introduced Jermaine Williams the
incoming chair to the group.
-
Self, Nutt, and Martin discussed
the goals set for 2005-2006 and the results. Martin discussed
the emails sent to each group and the process utilized. Williams
led a discussion on whether to stay with these same groups and
targets for the next year. It was the consensus of the group
to keep these same groups as target groups and keep the same
goals as 2005-2006. It was encouraged for the group to look
at new strategies for reaching graduate students, such as to
collaborate with the research committee on connecting with grad
programs for the NACADA scholarships and adding a graduate student
representative for institutional members.
-
Nutt discussed the retention strategies
in place by the EO:
• E-mails every three months to new members
• Letters to the supervisors and Presidents of those who
are published in NACADA publications
• Contacting those who present at regional and national
conferences
-
Committee discussed new strategies
to include this year:
• Have region chairs also send e-mails to new members
in their region
• Keep committee and division units aware of the contacts
made by the EO with new members or retention strategies
• Add graduate representative to the institutional membership
• Send letters to the supervisors of committee members
and advisory boards when they come on to committees
• Establishing a blog on the NACADA site to allow members
to connect with each other and feel more connected to that association
-
Nutt and Martin will send to the
committee a draft of ideas for memberships for associations
that wish to join NACADA.
-
Committee members were encouraged
to respond to all emails on the committee listserv as their
input is invaluable in regard to the work of the committee and
the association.
-
Meeting adjourned.
