Position Description
This position is responsible for the oversight of all assessment activities for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering's two undergraduate programs in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering. Duties

Required Qualifications

Demonstrated effectiveness in developing and assisting in the implementation of student learning assessment, academic development and curriculum review in a collegiate setting is required, with at least three years of experience in higher education. Two years minimum experience as an academic advisor in higher education is also required.
Strong oral and written communications skills, excellent analytical ability and good interpersonal skills are required. Ability to work independently, in a complex team-based environment is required.
Proficiency in the use of standard software tools including spreadsheet and presentation software, database management and standard web-development tools is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree desirable.
Experience in regional and/or discipline specific (e.g., ABET) accreditation requirements and processes is preferred.

S/he has the opportunity to work with some of Princeton's brightest and most motivated undergraduates, monitoring their progress through the pre-health experience, both academic and non-academic. S/he guides students and alumni through the process of deciding on medicine as a future profession; explains the course requirements for admission to health professional school and helps students create manageable schedules; points students toward valuable resources to ensure academic success; and assists students with securing clinical and research experiences. When the application season arrives, s/he interviews applicants from Princeton, and drafts approximately half of the University's committee letters in support of applicants.
The Associate Director is also responsible for extensive event programming for the office, for overseeing several pre-health student groups, and for serving as a liaison to our physician-alumni population. In general, s/he is responsible for supporting the Director in nearly all of his functions, and serves to lead the office when the Director is absent.
Duties
- Academic Advising. Academic advising duties include counseling students on course selections, on the timing of courses and their MCAT, DAT, or GRE exam, and on balancing the pre-health requirements with their other academic and extracurricular goals. Stays current with changes in requirements and revisions of course offerings at Princeton in order to effectively advise students. Works closely with deans and directors of studies in the residential colleges, who oversee general academic advising, as well as other entities offering academic support and resources. Participates in collaborative projects with other divisions of the Office of the Dean of the College.
- Applicant Support. Assists the Director with supporting 120-150 Princeton applicants to health professional school annually. The committee letter process involves interviewing all applicants for health professional school in an hour-long meeting, reading their supplemental materials, reviewing letters of recommendation submitted on behalf of the applicant, and working with the Director to write the final letters of support.
- Physician-Alumni Liaison. Develops, plans, and implements speaker series, inviting distinguished and diverse group of physicians (most often alumni) back to campus to speak with undergraduates about their experiences in the medical profession. Oversees the planning for reception during Reunions Weekend; all alumni in the health professions are invited. Encourages physician-alumni to become mentors to current undergraduates through the Alumni Career Network.
- Pre-health Student Groups. Serves as adviser to Pre-med Society and Minority Association of Pre-health Students, meeting with officers regularly to discuss planned events, budgetary concerns, and overall missions of the organizations. Organizes peer contact list for pre-health student-athletes, designating (and training) appropriate upperclassmen to serve as peer contacts for underclassmen who are involved in varsity athletics. Works with other student groups as needed, including pre-health peer advisers in the residential colleges.
- Liaison to Health Professional Schools. Represents Princeton during visits to medical schools across the U.S., meeting admissions personnel and becoming familiar with strengths of individual schools.

Required Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in communication, psychology, counseling, education, social work, or a related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of student development and academic theories, methodologies, and current practices in higher education. Requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in higher education student services that demonstrates skills in academic advising, student support services, online learning environments, and marketing and communication initiatives. Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to handle complex situations with diplomacy; and computer profiency in generating analysis of data. A strong commitment to providing outstanding student services is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree strongly preferred since the position advises graduate students. Experience with market analysis and research is preferred.

Position Description
