CIG Service Awards - Guidelines
Awards:
The NACADA CIG Service Award was created to recognize an individual who has provided outstanding service, leadership, and commitment to a specific commission, interest group, cluster, or the CIG Division. The number of awards given is equal to the number of CIGD Division steering committee members. Each CIG cluster assigned to a Division Steering Committee member may select one individual each year to receive a NACADA CIG Service Award. Each recipient of this award will be presented with a recognition plaque during the NACADA annual conference in the fall.
Eligibility:
Each nominee must have been a member of the commission or interest group for at least one full year prior to the date of the nomination submission. For each CIG cluster, previous winners are not eligible for an award unless the nomination is for a different CIG cluster than the member was previously awarded. Current cluster officers (steering committee members) and members of the cluster’s selection committee are not eligible for this award.
Criteria:
The criteria for the selection of
a CIG Service Award winner may include, but are not limited
to, the following:
- Active participation in commission, interest group, and/or steering committee activities
- Length of commission or interest group membership
- Length of NACADA membership
- Presentations at annual/regional/state conferences on cluster-related topics
- Cluster-related contributions to the NACADA Journal, Academic Advising Today, and other publications
- Contributions to the local campus in support of NACADA goals and objectives
- General willingness to work on commission, interest group, cluster and/or division needs and tasks such as
- Recruiting NACADA members to participate in cluster-related projects
- Recruiting conference speakers to give presentations on cluster-related topics
- Evaluating cluster-related conference proposals
- Other appropriate examples of contributions and commitment to the specific goals and objectives of a commission, interest group, or cluster.
Nomination
Process:
Nominations
must contain adequate factual or descriptive material for the selection
committee to evaluate the nomination, including:
- A completed nomination form
- A supporting letter from the nominator providing evidence that the candidate has made significant contributions to the goals and objectives of a commission, interest group, cluster, or the CIG Division.
- Letters of support from colleagues within the commission, interest group, or cluster (not to exceed three letters)
Questions concerning the CIG Service Award for a particular
commission should be directed to that commission's current Chair.
A list of current Commission Chairs can be found on the CIGD web
site.
