Program Development Checklist

____ 1. Determine group’s needs and interests.
____ 2. Establish specific goals and learning objectives for the program.
____ 3. Select conference theme reflecting purpose of Regional Conference.
____ 4. Review past Regional Conference schedules and programs.
____ 5. Set number of general and concurrent sessions (check meeting room availability).
____ 6. Consider number and length of sessions and activities to offer.
____ 7. Balance sessions according to topics, variety, and regional appeal.
____ 8. Be sure sessions represent a diversity of presenters and topics in regard to ethnicity, gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation as well as diversity in regard to institutional type, size, and employment position.
____ 9. Select and confirm speakers and/or issue Call for Papers (Presentations) to set program content.
____ 10. Schedule sessions and consider set-up, break-down, and audio-visual requirements for each session.
____ 11. Consider special ADA needs/requests when determining room assignments.
____ 12. Evaluate traffic patterns and timing for moving crowds.
____ 13. Schedule social events and entertainment to complement rather than compete with educational sessions.
____ 14. Consider budget implications for all program decisions.
