The Assessment Institute gave participants the opportunity for genuine collaboration, with other institutions or within their own. We brought a team from Minnesota State – Mankato, and benefited from the synergy that occurred. We continue to work on our campus advising assessment plan that, without conference participation, would not be nearly as comprehensive or developed. Workshop leaders’ expertise, tailored levels of instruction, and opportunities to collaborate made this an outstanding institute for anyone interested in doing advising assessment.

The NACADA Assessment Institute proved to be one of the most useful and inspiring conferences I have attended. The break-out groups had dynamic, knowledgeable facilitators, the activities were engaging and practical, and the result for our institution was a fresh approach to advising training that was well-received by our faculty.

Sheraton Gunter Hotel

"The Gunter Hotel, at the Center of Everything"

The Sheraton Gunter Hotel 's roots date back to the first year of the Republic of Texas and assure the Gunter a prominent place in Texas history. The hotel sits on the corner in the vital part of San Antonio 's business center. In 1912, the National Association of Advertising Men gathered at the Gunter Hotel. Immediately they coined the phrase, "The Gunter Hotel, at the Center of Everything." Today with the remarkable growth and changes taking place along Houston Street, this 89-year slogan is still accurate!

The hotel has its own full-service upscale café and bakery, all-day room service, banquet facilities, and an evening pub lounge with a big screen TV and happy hour hors d'oeuvres. The Gunter offers a heated pool, exercise room, sundry shop and barber shop. Fun and nightlife are just blocks away at the famed San Antonio Riverwalk where you'll find lively entertainment and where fine dining includes Mexican dishes, Italian favorites, steaks and real Texas BBQ. In San Antonio, work and play comfortably co-exist.
