Commission & Interest Group Designations
The NACADA Commissions and Interest Groups (CIG) provide members an opportunity to join others with similar academic or specific student population interests in advising. Commissions advise the NACADA Commission & Interest Group Division Representatives and the NACADA Council about their concerns and issues and represent their members by serving on national and regional conference planning committees. Current commissions are listed below.
CIG membership assumes a commitment to active participation in programming and activities. Members are encouraged to select up to four (4) specific commissions and/or interest groups for which they will have voting privileges, receive targeted updates and announcements, and are eligible for involvement in committees and leadership opportunities. Benefits of officially joining a CIG include, but are not at all limited to:
- Networking with your colleagues
- Voting privileges (commissions only),
- Receive targeted updates and announcements
- Eligibility to hold an elected or appointed position within CIGs

Updating your preferred CIG Choices:
If you would like to designate or change your preferred commission and/or interest group choices with which you would like to be affiliated, please do by visiting your online membership account.
- To establish an account or to enter your account, visit the myNACADA home page.
- Login to myNACADA
- Click the “My Information” link in the left navigation menu. Your information will be displayed.
- Click the "Edit Information" link on the page to make changes.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the commission/interest group options. Units for which you are currently a member will be highlighted. If you would like to make changes, follow the instructions located to the left of the commissions/interest groups list.
- Click the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to save your changes.
You may change your commission and interest group affiliations at any time - although you should be aware that this may affect your eligibility for certain awards and elected positions.
