Re: CIGD Fair and Display Board Reminders
Greetings! The Chicago annual conference
is just around the corner! I wanted to provide
you with a summary of the details regarding the CIGD Fair and
display boards. You can set up your Fair table after 6:30am on
Thursday morning (Fair starts at 7:15am). Continental breakfast
for conference attendees will be provided in the same room during
the Fair.
Display
boards can be picked
up after the Leadership dinner on Tuesday evening,
September 30, or anytime on Wednesday in the conference registration
area. Additional details will be provided at the Commission &
Interest Group Division meeting on Tuesday afternoon. For those
Chairs not attending the Tuesday Division meeting, please check
with me at registration about picking up your board.
For display
board dimensions and suggestions of items/activities to incorporate
into your display, visit www.nacada.ksu.edu/CandIGDivision/Fair/CIGDFairInfo.htm. Photos
are available of past Fair tables, which might give you some ideas
for your table this year. Information is also provided on spending
guidelines for the $50 allocated to each commission and interest
group for your Fair display. Push pins will be provided for your
use in posting your information, or you can bring a stapler or
tape to use, if preferred.
Signup
sheets will be provided for each table on which
members can indicate their interest in being added to your unit's
list serve and/or volunteering to help with activities. A second
signup sheet will also be provided for you to circulate at your
annual meeting for additional signees. Please turn these sheets
in to me before leaving the conference -- a copy will be made
and given back to you to use for follow-up purposes. After the
conference, the list serves will be updated accordingly.
COMMISSION
CHAIRS: The CIGD Fair is an excellent opportunity
to recruit members interested in reading proposals submitted this
winter for next year's conference presentations. Nominations for
Commission Chair could also be solicited if being elected next
spring.
An updated CIGD brochure
will be distributed to conference attendees in their registration
packets. A few extra will be available for distribution during
the Fair if needed.
When the Fair is over, please remove any posted items from the
boards that you would like to keep. Otherwise, the push
pins will be removed and the boards and posted materials will
be discarded. We will not be saving the boards this year. You
are more than welcome to use your display board during your annual
commission or interest group meeting. You can
either take the display board with you after the Fair or make
arrangements with me to store it until needed for your meeting.
Be sure to keep
the receipts for expenses incurred in putting
together your Fair display (up to $50). You will receive a reimbursement
form at the CIG Division meeting to submit with receipts. Interest
Group Chairs not attending the division meeting can get this form
from me during the Fair or request it via e-mail after the conference.
Additional information regarding the Fair and display boards is
available at www.nacada.ksu.edu/CandIGDivision/Emails/CIGDEmails-2008Fair.htm.
I hope this information is helpful as you plan for your table display,
CIGD Fair materials, and other activities during the conference. Please
let me know if you have any questions.
See
you soon!
Julia
