Re: CIGD Fair and Display Boards

Greetings! The Indianapolis annual conference is just around the corner!  I wanted to provide you with a summary of the details regarding the CIGD Fair and display boards. You can set up your Fair table after 6:30am on Thursday morning (Fair starts at 7:30am). Continental breakfast for conference attendees will be provided in the same room during the Fair.

Display boards can be picked up after the Leadership dinner on Tuesday evening, October 17, or anytime on Wednesday near the conference registration area (outside Westin Grand Rooms 1-2-3). Additional details will be provided at the Commission & Interest Group Division meeting on Tuesday afternoon.

Visit www.nacada.ksu.edu/CandIGDivision/Emails/CIGDEmails-2006Fair.htm for display board dimensions and suggestions of items/activities to incorporate into your display. Information is also provided regarding spending guidelines for the $50 allocated to each commission and interest group for your Fair display.  Push pins will be provided for your use in posting your information rather than using tape so boards can be salvaged and reused, or you can bring a stapler to use, if preferred.

Signup sheets will be provided for each table on which members can indicate their interest in being added to your unit's listserve and/or volunteering to help with activities. A second signup sheet will also be provided for you to circulate at your annual meeting for additional signees. Please turn these sheets in to me before leaving the conference -- a copy will be made and given back to you to use for follow-up purposes. After the conference, the listserves will be updated accordingly.

COMMISSION CHAIRS: The CIGD Fair is an excellent opportunity to recruit members interested in reading proposals submitted this winter for next year's conference presentations. Nominations for Commission Chair could also be solicited if being elected next spring.

An updated CIGD brochure will be distributed to conference attendees in their registration packets. A few extra will be available for distribution during the Fair if needed.

When the Fair is over, please remove any posted items from the boards that you would like to keep. Otherwise, Executive Office staff will remove all items and push pins before packing up the reusable display boards to ship back to the office. You are more than welcome to use your display board during your annual commission or IG meeting if you like. You can either take the display board with you after the Fair or make arrangements with me to store it until needed for your meeting.

Be sure to keep the receipts for expenses incurred in putting together your Fair display board (up to $50). You will receive a reimbursement form at the CIG Division meeting to submit with receipts. Interest Group Chairs not attending the division meeting can get this form from me during the Fair or send me an e-mail after the conference.

As with past Fairs, please do not use helium balloons to decorate your table at the Fair, at your annual meeting or at any other conference event. This will avoid being charged high fees for hotel event staff to retrieve those that break away and float up to the high ceilings. Having uninflated balloons as giveaways is okay as well as balloons inflated with air that won't float away!

I hope this information is helpful as you plan for your table display and materials for the CIGD Fair.  [FYI - The complete onsite conference program is now available!]  Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! See you soon!

Julia
