Re: August 2009 CIG Division Reminders

Greetings!  Listed below are CIG Division deadlines and events coming up in AUGUST, advance notice of SEPTEMBER deadlines, and important announcements and updates. For the complete CIGD Timeline, visit www.nacada.ksu.edu/CandIGDivision/CIGDivisionTimeline.htm.

AUGUST 2009 DEADLINES and EVENTS:

  • As soon as possible Fall Annual Leadership Unit Reports due. If not yet submitted, e-mail your completed report to Julia at jqwolf@ksu.edu. Annual reports are due from current Commission Chairs. Interest Group Chairs who submitted a post-conference report last fall are asked to submit updated reports at this time. Click HERE for more information on the annual reports, including a link to your respective unit’s report template.
  • AUGUST 31 — Contact Julia Wolf with your preferred sort order for your respective commission or interest group membership list for the annual conference. (No need to reply now -- a separate e-mail about these list sort options will be sent in mid-August.)
  • ONGOING
    1. Interest Group Chairs, Potential Interest Group Chairs, and CIG Division Steering Committee members -- Notify Julia Wolf if you plan to attend the CIGD Division meeting in San Antonio on Sept. 29th, 1-5 p.m., and the Leadership dinner following the meeting, so plans can be made for your participation.
    2. If you will be unable to attend the annual conference in San Antonio, notify Julia Wolf at the Executive Office of the name of the individual(s) who will handle your Chair responsibilities during the conference in your absence, including your annual meeting and your table at the CIGD Fair.
    3. Plan the agenda for your respective Commission or Interest Group meeting at the annual conference. Contact Julia Wolf by September 9 if you'd like to e-mail the agenda to your unit members before conference.
    4. Solicit nominations for your successor as Commission Chair if being elected in 2010. If stepping down as Interest Group Chair this fall, solicit possible successors as well.  Contact Julia Wolf if you'd like to receive a list of current members in your respective unit to review for possible candidates.
    5. Be sure to review the information in the online NACADA Leadership Orientation (using “Haiku”) before coming to San Antonio this fall. Login information was sent several weeks ago to all leaders. If you need this info sent to you again, please e-mail George Steele directly (gsteele@oln.org). Although the orientation modules were developed with newly elected and appointed leaders in mind, there is good information from which all leaders can benefit.

ADVANCE SEPTEMBER 2009 REMINDERS:

  • SEPTEMBER 4 Deadline for early registration discount for Annual Conference. Click HERE for conference registration and hotel information.
  • SEPTEMBER 9 Send message text to Julia Wolf by this date if you would like to send an e-mail to your respective commission or interest group members before the Annual Conference. Perhaps this e-mail might include the agenda for your annual meeting.
  • SEPTEMBER 29 Commission & Interest Group Division meeting prior to Annual Conference in San Antonio, 1-5pm (incoming, outgoing, continuing chairs attend). Click HERE for a list of all Leadership meetings and expected attendees.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS, LINKS, AND SUGGESTIONS --

  • CIGD Division meeting: Tuesday, September 29th, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Attendance at this meeting is required for both current and incoming Commission Chairs, and optional for Interest Group and Potential Interest Group Chairs.
  • Specific dates/times for your annual unit meetings have been posted to your " Conference Events" web pages as well as a link to the applicable track of conference sessions. Click HERE for a complete list of the conference program topics and tracks.
  • 2009 NACADA award recipients have now been posted to applicable "Awards" web pages for the commissions and interest groups in which they are members.
  • Annual Meeting Feedback Forms — Remember, you will need to supply your own feedback form for your unit's annual meeting during the conference if you plan to gather feedback from members. (If you want to e-mail the template to me, I can make copies and give them to you onsite.)  If you created your own evaluation form for your annual meeting last year, e-mail or fax (785-532-7732) it to Julia Wolf, and it will be posted to help other Chairs create such a form for use at future meetings at www.nacada.ksu.edu/candigdivision/CIGDMeetingFeedback.htm.
  • Webinar Topic Suggestion Form — Commission & Interest Group Chairs have an opportunity for input into the Webinar topic selection process. Complete the online form at www.nacada.ksu.edu/Forms/webinarsuggestion.htm if you would like to submit a topic for consideration .  Chairs are encouraged to mention this form at their annual meetings to solicit input on these topics from their unit members.
