Re: CIGD Fair and Display Boards

Greetings! The Las Vegas national conference will be here before we know it! I wanted to summarize the details for you regarding the Commission and Interest Group Fair, and the display boards being provided. You will be able to start setting up your Fair table after 6:30am on Thursday morning (Fair starts at 7:30am). Continental breakfast will be provided in the same room during the Fair for conference attendees.

Display boards can be picked up after the Leadership dinner on Tuesday evening, October 4, or on Wednesday at the conference registration area (outside Palace rooms 1-2). Additional details will be provided at the Commission & Interest Group Division meeting on Tuesday afternoon.

The trifold display board is made of foamcore, is about 1/4-inch thick, and is all black with no writing on it. The overall board dimensions are 40x32 inches--middle panel is 20 inches wide and side panels are each 10 inches wide. Push pins will be provided for you to use to post your information rather than using tape so these boards can be salvaged and used again. Or, you can bring a stapler to use, if you prefer.

For suggestions of items and activities that you may wish to incorporate into your display, visit www.nacada.ksu.edu/CandIGDivision/Emails/CIGDEmails-CIGDFair.htm. Information is also provided regarding spending guidelines for the $50 allocated to each commission and interest group for your Fair display.

Signup sheets will be provided again for each table on which members can indicate their interest in joining the commission/interest group, being added to its listserve, or volunteering to help with activities. Please turn these sheets in to me after the Fair -- a copy will be made and given back to you to use for follow-up purposes. If you wish to take these sheets to your annual meeting to circulate for additional signees, you can turn them in to me later during the conference. After the conference, our database will be updated accordingly with the members' designated commission/IG choices and listserve subscription requests.

COMMISSION CHAIRS: The CIGD Fair would be an excellent opportunity to recruit members interested in reading proposals submitted this winter for next year's conference presentations in Indianapolis.

The new CIGD brochure will be distributed to each conference attendee this year in the registration packets. A few extra will be distributed to each table at the Fair in case extras are needed.

When the Fair is over, please remove any posted items from the boards that you would like to keep. The Executive Office staff will pick up the boards, and remove all items and push pins before packing the displays up to ship back to the office. You are more than welcome to use your CIGD Fair display board during your annual commission or IG meeting if you like. You can either take the display board with you after the Fair or make arrangements with me to store it until needed for your meeting.

Be sure to keep the receipts for expenses incurred in putting together your Fair display board (up to $50). You will receive a reimbursement form at the CIG Division meeting to submit with receipts. Interest Group Chairs not attending the division meeting can get this form from me during the Fair or send me an e-mail after the conference.

As with the past couple of Fairs, please do not use helium balloons to decorate your table at the Fair, at your annual meeting or at any other conference event. This will avoid being charged high fees for hotel event staff to retrieve those that break away and float up to the high ceilings. Having uninflated balloons as giveaways is okay as well as balloons inflated with air that won't float away!

I hope this information is helpful as you plan for your table display and materials for the CIGD Fair. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! See you soon!

Julia
