Re: February 2009 CIG Division Reminders

Listed below are CIG Division deadlines and events coming up in FEBRUARY, advance notice of MARCH deadlines, and important announcements and updates. Visit www.nacada.ksu.edu/CandIGDivision/CIGDivisionTimeline.htm for the complete CIGD Timeline.

FEBRUARY 2009 DEADLINES and EVENTS:

  • FEBRUARY 1 Request due for a new potential interest group from NACADA member(s) to the CIG Division Representatives and Executive Office Liaison.
  • FEBRUARY 6 Voting system for NACADA elections available online to members by 9:00 a.m. (CST). Voting login information will be e-mailed to individual members that morning.
  • FEBRUARY 13 — 2009 Annual Conference presentation proposals due online to Executive Office.
    • NOTE about Hot Topics: If you want to present a "Hot Topics" session in San Antonio this fall, you must submit a proposal online as done for all conference presentation proposals by February 13th. Be sure to begin the title of your submission with "HOT TOPIC" so it can be easily distinguished from other proposals.  Time slots for the Hot Topics sessions are on a "first-come, first-serve" basis, and are open to both commissions and interest groups.
    • NOTE: Presentation proposals do not have to be submitted online for your annual Commission or Interest Group meeting to be held at the fall conference. Abstracts for these meetings will be due to Executive Office later in the spring and details will be sent to you by conference staff.
  • FEBRUARY 23 Deadline for proposal readers to have conference proposal evaluations submitted to their respective Chairs.
  • FEBRUARY 27 Voting deadline for 2009 leadership elections -- voting must be completed by 9:00 a.m. (CST).
  • ONGOING — Promote and solicit nominations for Service to Commission Award (if applicable).
  • ONGOINGWork with Executive Office to promote submission of annual conference proposals, regional conference proposals, and award nominations by your commission or interest group members.

ADVANCE MARCH 2009 REMINDERS:

  • MARCH 1 Final notification due to CIGD Division Reps from Chair of Interest Group interested in seeking Commission status in 2009. (Final written proposals due May 1.)
  • MARCH 2 Deadline for Commission Chairs to have summaries of proposal evaluations submitted to Annual Conference Chair (Jo Anne Huber).
  • MARCH 2 Deadline for 2009 National Awards Program nominations and/or applications

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS, LINKS, AND SUGGESTIONS --

  • List of Service to Commission Award Selection Committee members are due January 31st if award is being offered in 2009 by your commission. [These commission members should also be listed in Section 1 of your post-conference report.]
  • Conference proposal review info/evaluation criteria -- www.nacada.ksu.edu/CandIGDivision/PropRevGuidelines.htm.
  • Volunteer Updates: Commission & Interest Group “Leadership” web pages have been updated with the lists of volunteers reported in your post-conference reports. Please check over these lists and notify Julia Wolf of updates.
  • Post-conference reports -- visit www.nacada.ksu.edu/CandIGDivision/Post-ConfReports/CIGDPostConfReports2008.htm if you would like to review goals and activities submitted by other CIG Chairs in their post-conference reports.
  • POSTINGS OF COPYRIGHTED INFORMATION:  Copyrighted information can be posted to your commission or interest group web pages only if the copyright ownership is noted on the actual document or the copyright is signed over to NACADA.  Example: If an individual wants to post a course syllabus to the list serve, NACADA would not be able to post that information on the web site because the copyright for the course syllabus is owned by that institution, and that person would not have authority to sign over copyright permission.  In such case, the information should be posted on the institution's web site by that person and a link provided to it.  If you have any doubts as to whether a document can be posted on our web site or if copyright is an issue, contact Julia Wolf or Marsha Miller at the Executive Office.
  • Check the general NACADA calendar for other dates of interest.

Please let Victor, Jennifer, or me know if you have any questions about these items. Thanks for all your efforts on behalf of your NACADA colleagues!

Julia
