HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all!  Listed below are CIG Division deadlines and events coming up in JANUARY, advance notice of FEBRUARY deadlines, and important announcements and updates. Visit www.nacada.ksu.edu/CandIGDivision/CIGDivisionTimeline.htm for the complete CIGD Timeline.

JANUARY 2009 DEADLINES and EVENTS:

  • EARLY JANUARY Status of requests for official interest group status (from potential interest group chairs) will be communicated to requestors by CIG Division Representatives.
  • JANUARY 15 — Short "News & Updates" activity summaries due from Commission/Interest Group Chairs for March 2009 issue of Academic Advising Today. E-mail directly to Leigh Cunningham (leigh@ksu.edu).
  • JANUARY 16Names of conference proposal readers due to Rhonda Baker (baker@ksu.edu) at Executive Office for your commission. Rhonda will e-mail you by the first week of January with specific deadlines for the conference proposal review process. If questions after receiving that e-mail, contact Rhonda Baker.
    • NOTE: Even if these names were submitted in your post-conference report, you need to e-mail them separately to Rhonda as well.
  • JANUARY 31 — List of Service to Commission Award Selection Committee members due to Julia Wolf (jqwolf@ksu.edu) if award is being offered by your commission in 2009. Some of you may have reported these committee members in your post-conference reports.
  • ONGOING — Promote and solicit nominations for Service to Commission Award (if applicable).
  • ONGOINGWork with Executive Office to promote submission of annual conference proposals, regional conference proposals, and award nominations by your commission or interest group members.

ADVANCE FEBRUARY 2009 REMINDERS:

  • FEBRUARY 1 Request due for a new potential interest group from NACADA member(s) to the CIG Division Representatives and Executive Office Liaison.
  • FEBRUARY 6 Voting system for NACADA elections available online to members by 9:00 a.m. (CST).
  • FEBRUARY 13 — 2009 Annual Conference presentation proposals due online to Executive Office.
    • NOTE: Presentation proposals do not have to be submitted online for your annual Commission or Interest Group meeting to be held at the fall conference. Abstracts for these meetings will be due to Executive Office later in the spring and details will be sent to you by conference staff.
  • FEBRUARY 23 Deadline for proposal readers to have conference proposal evaluations submitted to their respective Chairs.
  • FEBRUARY 27 Voting deadline for Leadership positions by 9:00 a.m. (CST) on this date.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS, LINKS, AND SUGGESTIONS --

  • Conference proposal review information -- www.nacada.ksu.edu/CandIGDivision/PropRevGuidelines.htm.
  • Post-conference reports -- visit www.nacada.ksu.edu/CandIGDivision/Post-ConfReports/CIGDPostConfReports2008.htm if you would like to review the goals and activities submitted by other CIG Chairs in their post-conference reports.
  • Budget requests -- you will be notified by mid-January 2009 of the status of budget requests submitted via post-conference reports.
  • 2008 CIGD Fair photos are posted at www.nacada.ksu.edu/CandIGDivision/Fair/CIGDFair2008.htm . If you have any digital photos taken of the following groups, please e-mail them to Julia Wolf for posting. Thank you!
    • Faculty Advising Commission, Liberal Arts Advisors Commission, Probation/Dismissal/Reinstatement Issues Interest Group, Ethics & Legal Issues in Advising Interest Group
  • Commission and interest group "Leadership" web pages will be updated over the next several weeks with committee member changes submitted in your post-conference reports. You will be notified when this task has been completed.
  • Check the general NACADA calendar for other dates of interest.
