Re: July 2009 CIG Division Reminders

Greetings!  I hope you are all finding time to enjoy the summer. Listed below are CIG Division deadlines and events coming up in JULY, advance notice of AUGUST deadlines, and important announcements and updates. JULY 2009 DEADLINES and EVENTS:

  • JULY 15 Deadline for short "News & Updates" activity summaries from CIGD Chairs for September 2009 issue of Academic Advising TodayE-mail directly to Leigh at leigh@ksu.edu.
  • JULY 24 Interest Group Chairs, Potential Interest Group Chairs, and CIG Division Steering Committee members -- Notify Julia Wolf if you plan to attend the CIGD Division meeting in San Antonio on Sept. 29th, 1-5 p.m., and the Leadership dinner following the meeting, so plans can be made for your participation.
  • JULY 24 If you will be unable to attend the annual conference in San Antonio, notify Julia Wolf at the Executive Office of the name of the individual(s) who will handle your Chair responsibilities during the conference in your absence, including your annual meeting and your table at the CIGD Fair.
  • JULY 29 Fall Annual Leadership Unit Reports due. An e-mail was sent to Chairs on June 26th with information about completing the annual report. [Contact Julia if you did not receive this e-mail.]  For this report, you are asked to update the goals/activities submitted in your post-conference report last fall and provide a progress report on each.   • ONGOING —Be sure to review the information in the online NACADA Leadership Orientation (using “Haiku”) before coming to San Antonio this fall. Login information was sent several weeks ago to all leaders. If you need this info sent to you again, please e-mail George Steele directly (gsteele@oln.org). Although the online orientation modules were developed with newly elected and appointed leaders in mind, there is good information from which all leaders can benefit.
  • ONGOING Solicit nominations for your successor as Commission Chair if being elected in 2010. If stepping down as Interest Group Chair this fall, solicit possible successors as well.  Contact Julia Wolf if you'd like to receive a list of current members in your respective unit to review for possible candidates. 

ADVANCE AUGUST 2009 REMINDERS:

  • ONGOING Solicit nominations for your successor as Commission Chair if being elected in 2010. If stepping down as Interest Group Chair this fall, solicit possible successors as well.  Contact Julia Wolf if you'd like to receive a list of current members in your respective unit to review for possible candidates.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS, LINKS, AND SUGGESTIONS --

  • CIGD Division meeting: Tuesday, September 29th, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Attendance at this meeting is required for both current and incoming Commission Chairs, and optional for Interest Group and Potential Interest Group Chairs.
  • San Antonio Hotel Reservations: Click HERE for San Antonio hotel reservation information.
  • Click HERE for a complete list of the conference program topics and tracks. Updates will soon be made to individual  "Events" web pages for commissions and interest groups, including a direct link to the respective track of conference sessions for each unit.
  • Annual Meeting Feedback Forms — Did you create your own feedback form to distribute at your annual Commission/IG meeting last fall to gather feedback from your members? Would you like to share this form with other Chairs who might want to create one for their respective annual meetings this fall? If so, please e-mail this document to Julia Wolf, or fax it to her at (785) 532-7732. Click HERE to review sample forms submitted by other Chairs.
  • UPDATE: Although it was mentioned at the CIGD Division meeting in Chicago that I would be leaving my role as your Executive Office Liaison sometime during this past year, that change has been put on hold for the time being. So, it appears that you are all stuck with me for a while longer!
  • Check the general NACADA calendar for other dates of interest.
