The academic advising program
is committed to preparing students for a life of continual learning,
adaptability, and individual fulfillment. Advisors and students
will share responsibility for developing educational plans compatible
with career aspirations.
The academic advising program
will empower students to take charge of their educational careers
through a collaborative mentoring relationship between advisor
and student.
Academic advising is a critical
component of the educational experience. Through academic advising,
we empower (guide) students to develop and implement sound educational
plans that are consistent with their personal values, goals
and career plans. Our purpose is to guide students to become
self-directed learners and decision makers.
In keeping with the institution's
strategic goal -- to create and enhance innovative high quality
and student centered learning environments - the mission of
academic advising is to provide an integrated program of effective
academic advising for students. This integrated program will
assist students to make a successful transition to university
life and to take responsibility for learning how to set and
achieve academic, career, and personal aspirations.
The
mission of the academic advising program is to provide a supportive
atmosphere which promotes the educational, career and professional
development of the student
