Commission on Advising Adult Learners Goals & Objectives

Current Commission Goals and Activities:

Commission Goals and Activities for 2004-2005:

Each goal and/or activity has been related to the applicable mission and strategy within the NACADA Strategic Plan.


Commission Goals and Objectives for 2003-2004:

  1. Increase communication among members through a monthly discussion question on the commission list serve to promote the improvement of advising services for adult learners by identifying issues critical to adult learners. (Strategic Plan Mission 1-A)
  2. Improve information available to commission members and adult learners through the development of a commission website committee to recommend enhancements to website information. (Strategic Plan Mission 1-B)
  3. Increase commission visibility at state and regional conferences by encouraging sessions dedicated to adult learners and ensuring commission representation for the purpose of increasing commission membership. (Strategic Plan Mission 5-C)
  4. Development of a survey for future distribution to identify the common needs of adult learners and to identify successful programs that serve adult learners, to establish a "best practices" guide for advisors. (Strategic Plan Mission 2-A)

Future Activities Planned:

  1. Monthly discussion questions posted to the list serve (the first question has generated 11 responses in the first day)
  2. Creation of a committee to improve website content
  3. Mass e-mail to all commission members to encourage involvement and promote volunteer opportunities
