Multicultural Concerns Commission Members
From: Kris Rugsaken, Chair
Greetings All,
Hope the 2007 year brings you a new hope and more success! This
is to remind you of the proposal dateline for the 2007
NACADA Annual Conference in Baltimore in October. Proposals
are being accepted now through February
10 and may be submitted online at www.nacada.ksu.edu/2007proposals/index.htm.
The conference theme is "Advisors
as Navigators: From Orientation to Graduation and Beyond".
Please consider submitting a proposal
yourself and/or encourage someone on your campus who has
been involving in the issues or practices of diversity/multiculturalism
to submit a proposal. For information on submitting proposals, you
may want to review the tutorial
for writing effective proposals on the NACADA web site.
With that in mind, I want to sincerely thank the following members
who have volunteered to be on the Proposal Committee to read and
evaluate proposals:
- Barbara
Miller
- Jane
Alexander
- Kathy
MacGregor
- Peggy
Itschner
For those of you who are on the Steering Committee, the Commission
Award Committee, and the Web Committee, you are also playing a very
important role in the success of this Commission. For members who
are not yet on any of the mentioned committees, it's not too late
for you to join the team -- please just let me know your choice.
Only with your help will this Commission meet its goals.
As the time has changed and policies updated, multiculturalism and
diversity are becoming more and more valued, and re-examined in
campuses across the nation. Last year, 42 proposals related to multicultural
issues were received. I hope the number will be higher this year.
I hope to see you in Baltimore in
October!
Best Regards,
Kris Rugsaken, Ed.
