Multicultural Concerns Commission News and Updates

NOTE: This message was sent to commission members on November 7, 2006.

To: Multicultural Concerns Commission Members
From: Kris Rugsaken, Chair

Dear Multicultural Concerns Commission Members,

The 2006 NACADA National Conference in Indianapolis was a great success. I want to sincerely thank those of you who gave presentations at the conference and those who attended the Commission meeting. Big congratulations go to those whose sessions were selected to be sponsored by the Commission.  For those who couldn't make it to the conference, we missed you and we hope to see you next year in Baltimore.

The new chapter of our Commission has begun, and only with your help can we achieve our goal. At the Commission and Interest Group Fair and at the annual Commission meeting, I asked for your help in one or more of the following capacities: Steering Committee, Proposal Committee, Nomination Committee, and Web Master or Web Committee. This is a great opportunity for you to get involved with NACADA. The Steering Committee will act as an advisory board to the commission chairperson while the Proposal Committee will help encourage members to submit proposals for presentations at an annual conference and read and select those proposals as well as encourage members to submit proposals for regional conferences. The Nomination Committee will search for, nominate, and select members for an annual award for their contributions to the Commission. The Web Master or Web Committee will maintain and provide updates for the Commission Website. Members can keep updated with information provided through the Website.

If you can help with one or more of the said committees, please kindly let me know. Your contributions will benefit not only our Commission but also our National Academic Advising Association.

I am closing with a question, "What can we do to better serve our members in order to better serve our students?"  Please e-mail me at krugsake@bsu.edu with your ideas. Thank you.

Best Regards,

Kris Rugsaken , Ed.D.
