Greetings!
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday break and are getting back
into the swing of things as the new semester begins. I know it is
a busy time, but I wanted to remind you all of several important
NACADA opportunities and deadlines:
-
If you haven't already done so, give some thought to attending
one of the FEBRUARY IN FLORIDA Professional
Development Events: Ethical/Legal Seminar,
Administrators' Institute , Assessment Institute. To learn more
about these events, visit the NACADA Web site at http://www.nacada.ksu.edu/index.htm.
-
Plan to attend your Regional Conference.
This is an excellent way to network with your colleagues from
other campuses and learn more about the exciting and ever evolving
field of advising. Visit www.nacada.ksu.edu/Events/Conferences/Regional/upcoming.htm
for more information. I hope to see those of you from Region 5
in Cleveland on April 20.
- Voting
begins on February 3 for the 2006 NACADA Leadership election.
Make sure to cast your votes for the candidates of your choice!
Click on the following link to view the list of candidates and
their position statements. http://www.nacada.ksu.edu/Election/2006/2006CandidateList.htm
-
Presentation proposals are due February
10 for the 2006 National Conference in Indianapolis.
Please consider submitting a proposal for this event. There were
23 faculty-related presentations at the conference in Las Vegas
. Let's see if we can increase that number to 30 at next year's
conference! If you've never submitted a proposal, the Tutorial
is an excellent resource to get you started with writing a winning
abstract and proposal.
- Service
to Commission Award nominations are due in the Executive Office
by April 1. The Service to Commission
Award provides commissions with a special opportunity
for recognizing deserving NACADA commission members who have significantly
contributed to a particular commission's overall goals and objectives
through their service and activities. Our commission is currently
seeking nominations for this award. Our commission is one of seven
commissions presenting this award this year.
Information
on the procedures for this commission award, including purpose,
criteria, eligibility, submission guidelines, and a nomination
form can be found on the NACADA web site at www.nacada.ksu.edu/Awards/CService.htm.
Thanks
for your help in promoting faculty advising on your campuses and
through your participation in the above-mentioned events.
