Earlier today you received an e-mail from Patrick Slowinski regarding his unfortunate resignation as chair of the ESL-International Student Advising Commission. We appreciate Megumi Yamasaki's commitment and thank her for stepping in to assume the role of interim chair until October 2004.

A special election will be held within the next few weeks to elect a new incoming chair to serve a one-year term from October 2004-October 2005. At this time, we are soliciting nominations for the Chair position for this Commission. We hope that some of you will throw your hat into the ring. If you have the desire to become actively involved in NACADA, this is a great way to begin!

Information on the role of a Commission Chair can be found at http://www.nacada.ksu.edu/CandIGDivision/cigdivinfo.htm. You may also wish to review the Commission Chair handbook for more information. Commission Chairs and incoming commission chairs are required to attend the Division meeting held just prior to the annual National Conference in the fall. As explained in the handbook, some reimbursement is made for the additional travel expenses for the extra lodging and meals incurred as a result of attending this meeting.
