Ethics and Legal Issues In Advising Interest Group

About Us

Academic advising has only recently been recognized as a career path, and with this label has brought legal and ethical issues. Handling sensitive and private data raises the same questions about security that other industries deal with such as banks by handling customer’s funds. New laws and regulations such as FERPA evolve and change over time so the advising community must keep current in order to provide students with the best possible service and data protection.

The Ethics and Legal Issues in Advising Interest Group will be a place where these issues are shared and new and developing issues can be brought to the awareness of its members. We encourage our members to read current articles, books and other literature and share them on our Facebook page ( ) as well as in our resources link here on our NACADA site.
