Platform
Statement:
The
Vice-President carries significant responsibility as we begin to
craft the NACADA strategic plan. Working with the NACADA Council,
which represents our three divisions, the Vice-President serves
as a key link to transmit the activities of the Divisions throughout
our organization.
I
know that it is at the operational level where great things happen.
For example, the Task Force on Advisor Certification along with
the Professional Development Committee provided the impetus for
the Graduate Certificate Program in Academic Advising.
Our
Region Chairs and their steering committees continue to offer outstanding
regional conferences that often serve as the 'proving grounds' for
new initiatives. Much the same way, the vibrancy of our association
is reflected in the composition of our commissions and interest
groups. They solicit and sponsor special sessions at our conferences
that fuel the intellectual growth of our profession.
I
ask for your support in the position of Vice-President, knowing
that the good work of the Council and Divisions is a reflection
of good minds and good hearts. As Vice-President, I will advocate
the concerns of the Council and ensure that they are articulated
with appreciation and respect for the persons who are NACADA - our
members.
