Statement:
There
are two things our Board of Directors needs: two-year college
representation and faculty representation. I am your "two-for-one"
candidate, as I have been a faculty member at Lansing
Community College for over 15 years. Nine years ago I became one
of our college's first faculty advisors in a centralized advising
program. I have been in a leadership role most of that time and
continue to offer professional development to approximately 200
advisors across campus.
As
Chair of the Faculty Advisor Commission I succeeded at helping
to create a more "faculty friendly" atmosphere in NACADA, while
learning a great deal about the inner workings of our organization.
My goal is to continue to speak passionately about issues affecting
faculty and two-year colleges, raising the level of awareness
of the diversity of people who support excellence in advising.
My
strategy for achieving this goal is based on the dynamic that
most everyone in NACADA demonstrates: a very high level of respect
and passion for building strong relationships in our profession.
Specifically, I want us all to continue to share the great depth
of research that exists in our field, while collaborating more
to learn about one another's best practices. I look forward to
being part of the leadership in NACADA that will continue to advance
its reputation as the preeminent force in advising!
