Statement:
I
have been an Academic Adviser in the Division of General Studies
(academic home for deciding students) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
since 1992. During this time, I have been active in coordinating
events and projects that impact advisers and students at the institutional
(acted as co-chair for all-university annual adviser training),
state (created transfer guides for all community colleges in the
state), and regional levels (co-chaired the Region 6 Conference
Planning Committee in 2001 and 1995).
Today
more and more students are electing to start their college careers
at the community colleges and to continue their degree at four-year
institutions. As the Region Chair, I will work with the conference
planning committee to encourage more conference participation
of community college advisers and for more conference session
topics related to the transfer process. I will also work to develop
a campaign strategy to increase NACADA Region 6 membership.
