Statement:
I
am a faculty advisor who has been involved with NACADA for almost
a decade. I believe that I understand the issues that are important
to faculty advisors; I believe that I also understand the role of
NACADA in the professional development of faculty advisors.
My
primary goals include:
-
seeking
more involvement in the organization from faculty advisors;
-
continuing
to build the collaboration between faculty advisors and primary
role/professional advisors that NACADA has identified as important;
and,
-
encouraging
more pre-conference workshops, journal submissions, and presentations
by and for faculty advisors.
While
I certainly understand the need to be involved in the state, regional,
and national professional organizations of my own discipline (and
I do belong to those organizations and attend some of the conferences),
I have consistently chosen to attend NACADA and submit presentations
to advising conferences because I perceive advising as an important
and integral part of my role as a faculty member.
