Statement:
I
have worked as an ESL faculty member, a first-year program assistant
director, and now as a career and academic advisor at Brigham Young
University. For three
years I was the Student Life Coordinator at my university's Intensive
English Program (IEP), serving 240 international students each semester.
I worked closely with International services and the Linguistics
department to ensure that international students were getting the
help and support they needed.
I
myself have been an international student in another country, and
I am committed to helping advisors better meet the needs of this
dynamic and wonderful group of students that we serve. I feel the
purpose of this commission is to connect valuable resources to advisors
who are dedicated to helping these students.
