Platform
Statement:
Over
the past 20 years, I have served as an academic advisor or advising
administrator at five institutions, including two community colleges,
a small private college, and two mid-sized universities. Through
my experiences, I have developed an appreciation for challenges
in delivering quality advising program inherent at most types of
institutions of higher education. I believe that Region 2 can continue
to provide contributions to NACADA and advance the advising profession
through the following goals:
-
Increasing professional development
opportunities for enhancing cross-institutional collaborations
on advising scholarship and research;
- Providing
assistance to help institutions develop and implement sound evaluation
programs that are outcome-based;
-
Promoting awareness of exemplary advising
practices within the region through conferences, electronic media,
etc;
-
Expanding the participation of professional
and, in particular, faculty advisors in Region 2 activities;
-
Creating a plan for establishing Centers
for Advising Excellence in a cross representation of institutions
within Region 2; and
-
Improving communication among members
in Region 2 and between Region 2 and the national organization.
I
am thrilled to have been nominated as Mid-Atlantic Region 2 chair,
and I will be happy to offer my blend of administrative and advising
experience to this important task.
