Statement:
I
was recently appointed to the Regional Board and after attending
my first meeting I was impressed with the expertise, motivation
and commitment of the board members. It would be a privilege to
serve with these talented individuals as your chair.
There
are three main goals that I would pursue as your chair. One, increase
our membership to include all faculty and staff involved in advising
in our institutions. To promote advising we need to reach out to
administrators and others on our campuses who have responsibility
for student welfare. This global approach would facilitate communication,
activities and collaboration within the entire spectrum of higher
education.
Two,
facilitate and share assessment activities to strengthen and validate
all the different facets that occur within advising. Sharing assessment
ideas will enable us to highlight the important role that we play
in nurturing students through their academic careers.
Three,
promote and encourage research activities at all levels to enhance
our knowledge base relative to the constantly changing needs of
our student populations.
Region
Two has benefited from exceptional leadership and support in the
past and, as your chair, I will strive to do my utmost to continue
to build on this solid foundation.
