Statement:
As
a Senior Academic Advisor at Georgia State University , I have been
an active member of NACADA for 6 years. During that time, I have
presented at the State, Regional, and National levels. Recently
I received the honor of best presentation for Region IV and 2003
Outstanding Advisor Award. Presently, I serve as the State Representative
for Georgia. My goal has been to increase cooperation and involvement
among state institutions by highlighting state drive-thru workshops.
As
Region IV Chair, my goal will be to build stronger alliances among
region institutions. As region institutions collaborate, the primary
objectives would be to share information about successful advising
programs implemented at institutions across the state; present research
findings of advising concepts and models; develop working relationships
among state institutions; and to make aware throughout the community
of state institutions, student academic needs and services. Even
though we face some of the same general academic advising issues
and some of us face more specific issues, it is imperative to establish
collaboration among region institutions. My emphasis will also be
to encourage members to form interest groups at the Regional level,
which will foster participation into existing interest groups and
or creation of new interest groups at the National level.
