Platform
Statement:
Faculty
deliver a majority of the advising in our colleges and universities,
yet often advising expectations are not made clear to them, they
do not receive adequate training and they are not rewarded for the
quality of their advising. I would like to work with members of
the commission to recruit more faculty advisors to attend state,
regional and national NACADA meetings, to partner with the advisor
training commission to tailor training and development opportunities
for faculty, and to produce a monograph or special issue of the
journal which focuses on best practices in rewarding faculty advisors.
As a faculty member and advising administrator, quality advising
by faculty is central to me personally and professionally.
