Platform
Statement:
As chair of the Advising
Student Athletes Commission, I would foster growing membership
among athletic departments at the schools as well as academic
departmental advisors who advise athletes. This commission would
focus on how to continue the balance of educational academic successes
along with being a successful athlete. It is truly in the best
interest of the athletic student for athletic department advisors
to work hand in hand in conjunction with the major academic advisors
to foster success of that student.
Working together in
this commission, the focus will be a continuance of collaboration
between the athletic associations and academic units throughout
all colleges among both the faculty and professional advisors.
This commission along with the NACADA membership will be a strong
tool for achieving a great wealth of networking opportunities.
As Commission Chair,
it will be a pleasure and honor to serve and work within this
commission. I look forward to meeting each person within the commission
and hearing how they have achieved success at their home institutions.
If elected Chair, I will look forward to hosting the commission
sessions at the National Conferences and to do whatever roles
are necessary to make this a successful and informative commission.
