Platform Statement:

As an advising administrator who has been especially active in the training and development of advisors, including faculty advisors and peer advisors, my primary goals are to cultivate, train and develop a new generation of academic advisors while supporting continuing advisors through opportunities for professional growth. To that end, I would support the following strategies:

  • Encourage the development of graduate-level educational opportunities in the field of academic advising.
  • Expand and update video and electronic training modules like the faculty advisor training video.
  • Support state and regional associations as they expand local training and development opportunities.
  • Encourage the involvement of undergraduate peer advisors in NACADA.
  • Continue to expand Member Career Services for advisors.

Given my interest in twenty-first century developments in higher education in the EU and world-wide, I also support initiatives that will continue to internationalize NACADA as a champion for academic advising in a global environment. I would also encourage NACADA to continue to find non-dues financial support to provide funding for the above initiatives.
