Platform Statement:
Highlight your previous involvement within this unit that
will help you in leading this unit. What roles have
you played within this particular unit as a member thus far? |
I
have been the Florida State Representative since 2006 and on the
Region 4 steering committee since 2006. This experience alone has
allowed me to network well nationally and increase membership in
the state of Florida steadily over my terms. I have also bid, received
a bid, and hosted the last Region 4 conference in Tallahassee. In
doing so, I have attained extensive committee experience with planning
a regional conference for large numbers of professional colleagues.
This event was the largest in region history and has set a new standard
for success for Region 4 Conferences.
What do you believe are the most important goals and initiatives
for this unit in meeting the strategic plan for both the unit and
the Association?
We
must continue push toward becoming more technologically seamless
as a unit and an association. Moreover, we must look at different
options in contacting each other as colleagues that do not necessarily
destroy our budgets yet, provide a creative collegial atmosphere
to recruit and retain our population base. Finally, my goal is to
continue to offer strong developmental programming that will holistically
develop our professionals and graduate students. Our conference
offerings must be practice ready, for all of us to develop and grow.
Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or
what influenced you to run for this leadership position?
I
am passionate about serving in this position because I see the need
to continue the work that has been done by my predecessors. I have
been consistently involved in almost every way possible on the state
and regional level. Moreover, It is my utmost desire to serve this
region because of it's historical significance to NACADA and the
national advising scope. We must push the envelope to continue to
keep Region 4 on the cutting edge of Advising. My greatest influence
are my colleagues who believe that advisement does not stop at five.
Instead, it is a lifestyle of building bridges and leading students
to their dreams. I realize that the world can be better one student
at a time, if we continue to LIVE our jobs well, with integrity
and enthusiasm.
Provide any additional comments or information (either
personal or leadership-related)
that you want potential voters to know about you that is not covered
elsewhere in your platform information.
In
my humble opinion, I have worked very hard to create an atmosphere
of growth through the recruitment of Advisors, Administrators, Faculty
and graduate students. I have put my resources and time where my
platform lies; where it should be. In the hands of our population
base. I believe leadership is service and humility, with a tireless
will to listen, plan and implement change that stands the test of
time. I am extremely passionate and ready for this opportunity to
SERVE OUR REGION!
