Statement:
Highlight
your previous involvement within this unit that will help
you in leading this unit. What roles have you played within
this particular unit as a member thus far? |
As a member of the Region 2 Steering Committee for three years, I had the opportunity to work with two different Region 2 Chairs. I was fortunate to learn a great deal from two very productive leaders in the area of strategic planning and budgeting. As a member of the inaugural awards committee, I was part of a team that established guidelines that are now in place for our Region 2 awards. My previous experience with conference planning at the state and regional level will also serve me well in the capacity of chair.
What do you believe are the most important goals and initiatives
for this unit in meeting the strategic plan for both the unit and
the Association?
I believe the most important goals for Region 2 include:
- Growing membership and participation in NACADA throughout the region
- Expanding the body of scholarly inquiry on advising
- Fostering development activities for new and seasoned professionals
- Developing the talents and leadership skills in NACADA members
- Helping advisors educate college administration on the importance of advising as a teaching function rather than just a student service.
Why are you interested in serving in this leadership position or
what influenced you to run for this leadership position?
I believe my past experience at the region level will help me in serving the region as chair. I strongly believe in the importance of NACADA and if elected I will work tirelessly to support its mission.
Provide any additional comments or information (either
personal or leadership-related) that you want potential voters to know about you that is not covered
elsewhere in your platform information.
I believe my role as Region 2 Chair will be as an encourager. I see my purpose is to help others get more people involved in leadership positions in NACADA, helping those new to the organization find a way to grow as professionals. My strengths lie in planning and carrying out goals, and paying close attention to the details.
