NACADA webinars allow advising professionals to access valuable content from anywhere with an internet connection.NACADA webinars are focused events concerning topics of importance to academic advisors and advising administrators.All webinars may be viewed by individuals on their desktop/laptop computers or by groups in conference room settings.

NACADA webinars are a live 60 minute presentations conducted in the Zoom presentation platorm.. Each presentation consists of approximately 45 minutes of presentation followed by 15 minutes of audience questions and answers. Each NACADA webinar is recorded and participants will have access to the online recording for 60 days. Additionally, the recording will be made available for purchse in the NACADA Store.

NACADA is interested in engaging the global advising community in a timely, accessible way.  If you have a topic or idea that you think would make an engaging, informative live or on-demand webinar, you are invited to complete the form below and submit for consideration.

Presentation Setup
  • Please work with your IT personnel, as needed, both on their home campus and through NACADA, to prepare and understand the tech requirements and usage.

  • Schedule a quiet room with a computer with a stable Internet connection (a wired connection is often more stable, but not always). Your office will be

  • It is best to use the same computer setup during rehearsal that will be used for the broadcast, if possible.

  • Ensure that a webcam and audio device are available for all meetings.

Content Development
  • Be sure to provide intended learning outcomes / Core Competencies to be addressed for their portion of the presentation.

  • Provide graphics and text for event slides; a slide deck template will be provided.

  • Ensure that all material presented is original, accurate, and does not infringe on any copyright or the proprietary rights of others. Some copyright-free image locations are listed below (sometimes with attribution required):

  • Provide citations and secure permissions for materials, as appropriate.

  • Contribute to the event handout (i.e., references, recommended resources, supplemental material), which must be posted for attendees one week before the broadcast (a template will be provided).

Audio/Video Prep
  • Zoom in enough to avoid showing too much of your background or things that might be distracting.

  • Don't zoom in too close, though. Eye movement as you refer to other resources on your screen or notes can distract attendees.

  • Try to minimize your movement on camera (such as chair swiving). Too much movement can be distracting to attendees and can increase the bandwidth needed to send the video to attendees.

  • Plain, solid-colored clothing works best on camera. Busy prints/small stripes can cause problems and magnify video quality issues for attendees.

  • Avoid having a window or other bright light source behind you on camera. Your image will show as a dark silhouette on the screen.

  • Ensure not to use branded materials in your video, such as a Diet Coke or Sonic cup. University and Institutional items like a Kansas State University coffee mug are welcomed.

When are proposals due?

Sunday, April 24, 2024 -  no execeptions as delays interfer with the planning timeline and due dates.

How long does the application process take?

After the applicaiton portal closes on April 24, 2024, proposals are then reviewed by the Online Education Advisory Board. The OEAB has 3 weeks for review. Following the review the Executive Office will review the data from the OEAB and scheduling needs. This process takes approximately 2 weeks. Responses are then sent to all applicants.
