2016 Academic Advising Administrators' Institute
February 18-20, 2016 held at the Hilton Phoenix/Mesa in Mesa, AZ

The Institute is designed for all levels of advising administrators: Those who are aspiring to become Administrators and those new to Advising Administration at all levels come learn the basics and network with others new to administration as well as those experienced administrators from whom you can learn valuable 'hands-on' information. This program is also geared to experienced advising administrators who are looking to improve their academic advising programs.

 9:45-11:00 am Track A Work Group Session - Introductions, Initial Discussion of Action Plans to be developed at the Institute and group discussion of the first plenary
 Track B Work Group Session - Introductions and goals for the institute - group identify challenges for those with campus-wide responsibility but often no authority

• Leading the Charge to Develop an Assessment Plan for Academic Advising
• Engaging in Learning from/for Faculty Advisors
• Developing and Administering Training and Development Programs
 Track B Case Studies/Networking - This discussion will be around building a culture where academic advising is valued - concepts of mission, goals, outcomes, assessment

1:45-3:30 pm Track A Work Group Session - Discussion of sessions and concrete beginning steps of action plan
Track B Work Group Session - Continue culture discussion and begin the "who should be advising and why" or the organizational/structure issues and the engagment of faculty in the academic advising experience of students

• Advising Competencies: Development, Implementation and Assessment – NEW!
• Strengthening Leadership by Developing Your Team
• Maintaining Harmony and Building Staff Morale
Track B Case Studies/Networking - How to incorporate on their campuses the concept of teaching and learning including discussion of career ladders for primary role advisors and how academic advising plays or should play in promotion and tenure for faculty who advise. Discussion of the importance of research in the field

Track B Work Group Session - Professional development issues in regard to all academic advisors - primary role advisors, faculty advisors

1:30-5:00 pm Track A Consultation Sessions - All participants will have an opportunity to schedule a time with an institute faculty member for assistance on their action plans
Track B Consultation Sessions - Participants can meet with one of Track B faculty on a specific issue
