The theme, A Commitment to Collaboration: Joining Hands to Better Serve our Students , indeed captures the spirit and purpose of the 2008 Nevada State Drive-In Conference as academic advising professionals from a wide variety of higher education institutions are invited to attend. Along with the seven institutions that are a part of the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE), a warm welcome is extended to institutions from our neighboring states, our NACADA Region 9 colleagues and any academic advising professional who is interested in attending this drive-in conference. In addition to expanding one’s knowledgebase and skill-set, academic advising professionals are encouraged to connect with their colleagues and establish working relationships that are long-lasting and extend beyond one day.

We are pleased and excited to announce that Dr. Jane Nichols , Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs for the Nevada System of Higher Education, will provide the keynote address for the conference! In addition, numerous conference sessions will be conducted around topics such as, expectations of academic advisors, transfer student transition, campus collaboration and awareness of academic advising, and advising styles to best address the populations we serve. There will also be many opportunities to network with colleagues during breakfast, lunch and the mixer, which is scheduled for after the conference.
