For the first time in Region 8 history, in conjunction with the national office of NACADA we are offering a Technology Seminar!

The NACADA Region 8 Conference Technology Seminar will be a hands on, interactive advising technology experience with a focus on utilizing the latest web-based technologies including: Blogs, Wikis, Twitter, Facebook Pages, RSS/Content Re-purposing, MS Outlook Enhancements, Web Statistics/Assessment, Online Surveys/Forms and Social Bookmarking. In addition to learning how to use these tools, attendees will be given the tools to implement an academic advising oriented social media communications planning framework.
This seminar is for advisors who identify as having an intermediate to advanced comfort level with technology. Participants will be expected to bring a Wi-Fi capable laptop. It is also for advisors who want to go beyond signing up for a Facebook profile and boldly go forward with expanding their technology implementations. |

NACADA Region 8 Conference Technology Seminar Faculty
Eric Stoller is an Academic Advisor & Web Coordinator for the College of Health and Human Sciences at Oregon State University. He served previously as a Marketing Specialist for Student Affairs at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Eric has over 10 years of web-related technology experience. His technology competencies include social media strategies, blogging best practices, content syndication, web site statistics, accessibility/usability analysis and search engine optimization.
Eric is a student affairs techie who can translate technology jargon into meaningful Student Affairs action and policy. As an academic advisor, Eric is literally "plugged in" to how today's student interacts with various web technologies.
Eric has given presentations on web-related technologies at multiple Student Affairs conferences (AACRAO, NACADA, and NASPA) and is a former regional chair of the NASPA Technology Knowledge Community. He holds a BA in Communications/Public Relations from the University of Northern Iowa and an Ed.M. in College Student Services Administration from Oregon State University.
