Have a hot topic and a great presentation in mind?  Your NACADA Regional Conference is a great place to share what you know with your colleagues!  For complete details on how to submit your proposal on line, choose your region web page at:

http://www.nacada.ksu.edu/Events/Conferences/Regional/upcoming.htm

Mark your calendars to attend and PRESENT at your NACADA Regional Conference today!

The 2004 Annual National Conference will be held October 6-9, 2004, at the Cincinnati Convention Center.  Plan now to submit a presentation proposal - novice as well as experienced presenters are encouraged.  Printed "Call for Presentation Proposals" information will be mailed in late November; online proposal submissions will be accepted beginning December 1.  The proposal submission deadline is February 9, 2004.

To ensure continued fiscal health, the NACADA Board of Directors voted to increase annual membership dues to $55 for Individual and Allied members.  This is the first dues increase since 1995.  In addition, the Board increased the fees charged to non-members for NACADA advising resources - monographs, videos, books, etc.

Information is now available on the 2004 NACADA Leadership elections at the web site below, including a list of positions to be elected, eligibility criteria for these positions, and the current list of nominees. Nominees have until November 7 to either accept or decline their nominations. After that date, candidate platform statements will be linked to their names on the candidate list for your review. Additional details on the 2004 elections and online voting process will be sent out to members in December.

At the "Moving Up the NACADA Leadership Ladder" session at the National Conference in Dallas, a sign-up sheet was passed around on which about 20 attendees signed up indicating that they were interested in either running for a Leadership position in the 2004 elections or participating in the NACADA Leadership Program. We truly appreciate your interest in NACADA's leadership!

Unfortunately, we have not been able to follow-up with those of you who signed up because that list was misplaced. If you are one of those individuals, we strongly encourage you to contact Julia Wolf at the NACADA Executive Office as soon as possible. If you were interested in running for a position in the 2004 elections, please contact Julia by November 7. Julia can be reached at (785) 532-5717 or jqwolf@ksu.edu.

Thank you for your assistance with this situation. We hope to hear from you soon!

The 2004 Call for Awards Nominations is currently being revised and will be available only online in early November. A postcard will be sent to current NACADA members to notify them when it has been posted to the NACADA web site. A link to the 2004 Awards Call web site will also be provided via e-mail in the monthly member Highlights. Please note that the printed booklets with nomination information and forms will no longer be mailed to members.

A new award, called the "New Advisor Award", will be introduced with the 2004 awards program. The criteria for this award will be very similar to the current Outstanding Advising awards, with the additional stipulation that this award is for individuals who have served in advising roles for 3 years or less. There will be two sub-categories for this new award -- Primary Role and Faculty Advising. Additional details for this new award will be provided in the 2004 Awards Call for Nominations.

Another change will be the addition of two sub-categories for the Electronic Publication Awards -- web sites and CDs/other. Additional details for these new sub-categories will be provided in the 2004 Awards Call for Nominations.

It is possible that selected criteria may change for various award categories in 2004 so please be sure to refer to the 2004 Awards Call before submitting your final nomination materials. However, until those details are available, the information still available on our web site for last year's program should provide you with a general idea of the basic content for the nomination packets or applications.
