New Advising Professionals Interest Group

The initial goals that have been identified for this Interest Group include:

    1. To work in conjunction with NACADA to develop specific professional development activities for new professionals in the advising field. This includes looking at the “career path” of those in advising, and developing conference sessions, tracks and conferences and possibly stand-alone institutes for new advising professionals.
    2. To identify current successful training opportunities, both on local campuses and nationally and to develop new training/educational opportunities.
    3. To consider the development of a mentoring program for those new in the advising profession.
    4. To look at connections with other professional organizations and other units within higher education.
    5. To make a concerted effort to increase diversity by identifying New Advising Professionals from underrepresented populations and encouraging them to join the Interest Group and become involved in NACADA.
