Position Description
Provide comprehensive and wide ranging academic advising and support for first year (freshman and transfer)students. Serve as expert resource for and provide leadership to departmental academic advisers on a wide variety of policy implementation guidelines; provide advice and guidance to the chairs and members of college faculty governance committees, other undergraduate deans' offices, Undergraduate Education, and Student Affairs, includingAdmissions, SASC and the Student Community Centers (CCC, LGBTRC,etc.).

Duties
COMPREHENSIVE ACADEMIC ADVISING AND RETENTION PROGRAMADMINISTRATION; PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND STUDENT ORGANIZATIONCOORDINATION; LIAISON AND COORDINATION WITH THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OFACADEMIC ADVISING IN THE OFFICE OF THE VICE PROVOST FORUNDERGRADUATE EDUCATION; LIAISON AND OUTREACH

Qualifications:
 

Required Qualifications 
Bachelor's degree in counseling or psychology or an equivalentcombination of education and experience.Experience with multicultural and student development theories andadvising.Experience advising students at a major research university, andknowledge of the personal and social problems commonly encounteredby college students.Experience with implementation of advising and transition programsaimed at first year (freshmen and transfer students).

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in counseling or psychology or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Direct experience with first year students in an educational setting at an institution of higher learning.
