Position Description

The individual in this position will serve as an Academic Advisor in the Honors College and will report to the Associate Director of the Honors College.

**This position requires the ability to teach** 

Duties

  • Face-to-face advising of students in all matters related to academic and/or curriculum matters pertaining to the Honors College;
  • assisting with and coordinating registration procedures;
  • conducting Camp War Eagle (new student orientation) sessions;
  • evaluating and maintaining student records on a computerized database;
  • teaching Honors Participation Courses;
  • and participating in Honors recruiting efforts.
  • The successful candidate will be a dynamic innovative and energetic individual who possesses vision, enthusiasm, and a strong understanding of the higher education community. It is essential that this candidate fosters a team-player attitude and is willing to interact with internal and external constituents including administration, alumni, parents, students, and faculty. The candidate is also expected to exhibit progress in his/her own professional development.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Entry into this applicant pool requires a Master's degree from an accredited institution in Psychology, Counseling, Education, Business, or a related field as this position will require teaching courses of instruction. Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures in advising or counseling is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Desired qualifications include prior direct experience in academic advising-related educational counseling; experience in student services at the university level; and participation as a student in a university Honors program.
