Position Description

Serves education students including transfers, pre-majors, majors, and licensure students enrolled at UNCW. Provides accurate and timely advising to support students from matriculation to degree/licensure completion. Works closely with faculty advisors and student groups to increase student engagement in the Watson College.

The Watson College of Education (WCE) ( is a growing college with over 60 tenure-track faculty members working in undergraduate and master's programs in the Department of Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle, Literacy and Special Education and the Department of Instructional Technology, Foundations and Secondary Education, and master's and doctoral programs in the Department of Educational Leadership. It offers several international study programs and maintains partnerships with numerous school districts, community colleges, and colleges/universities in the region.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field is required or master's degree conferred by December 2017.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently with minimal guidance.
  • Ability to integrate interpersonal and organizational skills in the diverse and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend work, due to student events.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Academic advising or related knowledge/experience with college students is highly preferred.
  • Experience in higher education and working with diverse students.
