Position Description

Are you looking for a career in helping others? Do you like to problem-solve in a fast-paced work environment? We are seeking a qualified applicant to join our School of Management Undergraduate Academic Advisor team as an Academic Advisor. This position will advise a caseload of approximately 280-300 students. Help students navigate through their college career, find success in and out of the classroom, and be prepared for life after college.


Duties include registration/scheduling, walk-in advising, student development, academic and career planning, student recruitment, present advising content in a section or more of MGMT 100 and representation of the school at events and in committees. May be asked to serve as liaison with other school and university units.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in field relevant to the position.
  • One year of experience in student advising, education, teaching, student affairs or related.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and work with faculty, staff, students and parents.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Academic Advising in a high volume environment, especially within a larger university.
  • Knowledge of academic advising principles/practices.
  • Knowledge of programs and majors at Purdue University, especially business tracks.
