Duties
The College of Education Student Services Center invites applicants for the positions of General Academic Advisor, Alternative Routes to Teacher Licensure (ARL) Advisor, and RPC (Retention, Progression, and Completion) Advisor. These are full-time 12 month, non-tenure track positions. The General Academic Advisor is responsible for providing academic advising to current and potential undergraduate students in the College of Education. Duties include: providing accurate information regarding degree requirements insuring retention, progression, and completion, educational and career options, university and college policies and procedures; evaluating student progress; helping students with academic decisions; participating in the recruitment and orientation; documenting and updating student records; and other duties as assigned. The ARL Advisor is responsible to the advising, recruitment, and marketing of the COE program. Duties include: establish on campus recruitment activities for the COE, coordinate university recruitment activities within the advising office, establish outreach programs to communicate and provide information to perspective students and admitted students, recruit and work with community colleges in Nevada and in Western neighbors to ease the transfer process, work with director and associate director to establish recruiting trips locally and nationally as funding permits; provide students accurate information regarding degree requirements, educational and career options, university and college policies and procedures, evaluating student progress, helping students with academic decisions (e.g. choice of major, course planning, goal clarification). The RPC Advisor is responsible to track, assess, and closely advise our academically high-risk students: alternate admits probation students, suspension students, and students with unsatisfactory mid semester grades.
Duties include: assessment of all students at- risk, providing assistance to help insure that the at-risk student has a chance for success, providing accurate information regarding: degree requirements insuring retention, progression, and completion, educational and career options; university and college policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
 

Required Qualifications 
These positions require a Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university and one (1) year related professional experience in academic advising or related experience in higher education. Applicants must have experience with computerized student information systems and their application to advising; experience with various assessment programs and techniques; be accurate and detail oriented; possess excellent communication skills; be able to work in a fast-paced environment with constant change; possess excellent time-management skills to handle a large caseload; and be knowledgeable of student confidentiality guidelines (FERPA). Applicants must have knowledge of the teacher education programs offered in the College of Education and certification requirements of the Nevada Department of Education.Preference will be given to those applicants who have shown more extensive experience (i.e., greater number of years) in advising, recruitment, and assessment. 

Preferred Qualifications
SALARY RANGE Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
