Academic Coaches work with all Kansas State students and especially with those assigned to the coaching program as a condition for their admission to Kansas State. Common areas of focus include goal-setting and progress, prioritizing commitments and defining their purpose. This role will provide an individualized approach that often includes: developing strategies to conquer a difficult class, maximizing personal strengths, identifying and reaching academic goals, developing study and life skills, overcoming challenges, and finding motivation and purpose.
Within this role you will also serve as the main point of contact for at-risk, undergraduate students. Coaching responsibilities are directly tied to retention and effort to cultivate engagement with students. This position requires that a coach work with students in a variety of ways and navigate between methods of approach to effectively develop rapport and facilitate the success of students.
The Academic Coaching Program is housed within the Academic Achievement Center. The Academic Achievement Center seeks to empower students through useful resources, motivate through positive encouragement, and inspire hard work and dedication. AAC’s services are open to all Kansas State University students and are met with understanding, encouragement, and the resources to generate success now and in the future. We are a team dedicated to meeting students where they are.
Participating in academic coaching is unlike any other program at Kansas State University. The coaching team invests time and resources to support successful college experiences. Students that are placed in the program and complete the program are more likely to have a higher GPA than those not receiving coaching.
